A Letter from Josie

Hi Babe,

If you’re here, that means you’re about to or have already embarked on the journey of having a baby, and I’m so glad you found me.

Having a baby changes you–whether it’s your first or your fifth. The time immediately after a parent gives birth can be delightful as well as shocking. I’m here to make sure you can focus on bonding with your baby, getting the rest your body needs, feeling empowered as a parent, and having the information and tools you need to take care of your baby–however you feel is best.

I am a big believer in “it takes a village” to get your bearings as a parent while making sure you aren’t lost in that transformation. As a mother of two, I know firsthand how sacred this time is and would love to see if I could be a good fit for your family.

Parents can do hard things, but that doesn’t mean we have to do them alone–why not together.

About Doula Babe

Biography

I am a San Diego native, UCSB alumnus, and now a local Angeleno. I love discovering new places, eating ice cream at any hour of the day, and being surrounded by my friends and family sharing stories and belly laughs.

I began my career as a registered nurse in the Emergency Department. I have a Master’s in Nursing and am a certified Family Nurse Practitioner. I am currently working full-time as an NP but my passion for women’s health and babies deepened after I became a mother myself. I am blessed with two children and believe my experiences have led me to this passion to serve as a postpartum doula.

Experience

  • Postpartum Doula – DONA Trained
  • Infant, Child, and Adult CPR Certified
  • Certified Family Nurse Practitioner since 2013
  • Registered Nurse since 2011
  • Member of Doulas Association of Southern California (DASC)

Why Doula Babe?

I have been described by my closest friends as warm and empathic. I have a habit of feeling close to people as fellow humans fairly quickly and embolden that human connection with an endearment, often using the term “babe.”

I did this a lot in college which earned me the nickname Josie Babe. When I thought about what my postpartum doula path could look like, “Doula Babe” felt second nature. The role of the postpartum doula is to mother the birthing parent and family. In essence, to be a doula to a babe – you.
