Doula Babe Benefits

What are the benefits of hiring a postpartum doula?

Because of the incredible transition that takes place after the birth of a baby, this time can be racked with insecurities, doubt, and never-ending questions.

Parents often encounter sleep deprivation and can sometimes be up against nursing problems, intense physical recovery (especially with a surgical birth/C-section), postpartum depression/anxiety, and emotional highs and lows including grief, frustration, or guilt.

A postpartum doula can help!

Postpartum doulas assist with non-medical continuity of care. The tasks you can expect of a postpartum doula include:

  • Nurture and support of the whole family
  • Guidance and education during the postpartum period (birth up to 12 weeks) including diapering, bathing, feeding, burping, and soothing baby
  • Household organization and/or light tidying
  • Light meal preparation
  • Assistance with sibling and/or pet adjustment
  • Running errands
  • Referrals to specialists, healthcare providers, or support groups when necessary

Ideally, I will meet with you and your partner for a prenatal assessment during your last month of pregnancy in order to get acquainted. If that’s not possible, no worries! Contact me and we can figure something out.

Currently offering part-time, daytime postpartum doula care at $50/hour but able to extend sliding scale pricing. I believe every mother should have postpartum support.*

Most availability will fall on the weekends. Typical daytime shifts vary between 3 to 5 hours, based on each family’s needs.
